- Starting today, 1Password Individual/Family account users and 1Password 7 for Mac/Windows license holders can gift a free year of 1Password Families to friends, family members, and anyone else one could be thankful for.:) Lots more info in the lovely blog post up there ^ 1Password account users: tap here and sign in to gift a free year!
- Happy Thanksgiving 1Password team, we appreciate you. Posted by 4 days ago. Why is the family account manager able to delete my data?? This doesn't make sense. Imagine if your Spotify account is part of a family account, and the account manager decides to delete all your playlists and songs.
- I have been following this company for like 10 years now, if not more. 1Password is anything but a typical software company. When they were small, I forget the year, they emailed us (each) six licenses of 1Password as a thanksgiving gift. A small gesture, but clearly the courage to leave that much money on the table for a small startup is laudable.
This week we’re delighted to bring a BIG update to 1Password on your Mac. The first thing you may notice is the brand-new icon! It is tailored to be right at home in your Dock on macOS Big Sur, while also being cozy on previous versions of macOS.

Choose your region
You can create your 1Password account in one of three different regions. The region you choose determines:
- the currency you’re billed in
- where your secure data is hosted
- which 1Password team members can access service data about your account, like billing information
Regardless of your region, 1Password staff can’t access your saved logins or other items.

Change your region
1password Thanksgiving Day
Your data stays in the region you choose. It is never automatically moved from one region to another. To change from one region to another, sign up for a new 1Password account in a different region. Then migrate your data:
- Copy your items from the original account to your new account. If you have multiple vaults, make sure to copy your items from all of them.
Document items can’t be copied across regions. To copy Document items, download them to your computer, then upload them to the new account.
- Sign out of the original account on your device(s).
If you share 1Password with your family or team, invite them to the new account and make sure they have access to the same vaults as before. Then each person will need to migrate their own personal data by following the same steps. Shared data that has already been migrated doesn’t need to be copied again.
After the migration, you can delete the original account.
If you have any time remaining on your original membership, contact 1Password Support.
